My Pitch and My Path
I know what you're thinking: "This guy looks like that know-it-all, Scott, I knew in college." I get it, but I look terrible in wire frames and need transitions lenses to help with light sensitivity. While I may be a little pretentious and have been doing design long enough to be confident in and vocal about my opinions, I also have come to realize that perhaps the most important part of design advocacy is being someone others want to bring to the table. While I didn't start doing design until my graduate program in 2010, I had already been doing much of the creative, analytical work that I would later bring to the profession in my undergraduate career of creative writing and philosophy. I understood early on as a designer that many of the missed opportunities are found not by just thinking divergently but by thinking deeply, and that modeling these ideas is often necessary to fully understand them and to communicate them. I take pride in my ability to prototype, strategize, and communicate complex topics with sound rationale and sometimes quirky insights. The military taught me how to be confident, work hard, and get along with others, and I bring that spirit to my teams.
I've done a ton in my career. If there's anything (design systems, etc.) you'd like to see more of, I can always show more.
